Abstract: The 2-abelian complexity is a complexity measure for infinite words. We show that the 2-abelian complexity sequence of the Thue-Morse word is a 2-regular sequence, which means the Z-module generated by the 2-kernel is finitely generated. To show this result we use very elementary methods from combinatorics on words. We use a coding to simplify the problem, show several bijections between sets to get an recursion for the 2-abelian complexity sequence and finally we use the recursion to prove 13 relations which form the 2-kernel.[hide abstract]
